APNs DRAFT Legislation (for 2010 Session)

SYNOPSIS:

Under existing law, certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNP) and certified registered nurse midwives (CRNM) are licensed by the State Board of Nursing and are allowed to practice under protocols approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners and the State Board of Nursing in collaboration with a physician. Also, under existing law a certified registered nurse practitioner and a certified nurse midwife may prescribe legend drugs.

This bill would authorize CRNP's and CRNM's to prescribe controlled substances in Schedules II to V pursuant to federal and state guidelines under the State Board of Nursing, and updates terminology to reflect current practice.
