Program Description:

This program will provide current updates for Clinical Nurse Specialists and other Advanced Practice Nurses in the care and management of patients with several common health conditions. The emphasis will be on new ideas to apply to evidence-based care with a goal of improving patient outcomes. The valuable role of Clinical Nurse Specialists in providing expert care will be highlighted.

Objectives:

  • Upon conference completion, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss opportunities and controversies surrounding the future of APRN education.

  • Describe current issues related to hospital-acquired infections (or healthcare associated infections) and sepsis.

  • Identify abnormal and normal findings on x-rays and CT scans in the context of emergency and trauma cases using a stepwise process.

  • Examines recent research and treatment of the polytrauma population to address unique challenges for rehabilitation.

  • Describe new findings for care of patients with metabolic syndrome.
