Utica, NY:  The Mohawk Valley Chapter of Nurse Practitioner Association New York State will be hosting its eleventh annual teaching day for nurse practitioners on Friday April 24th, 2009 at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre. This year's keynote speaker is Rosemary "Mimi" Clarke Secor FNP, FAANP, a nationally renowned speaker and clinician. NP's are health care professionals who provide you and/or your family with comprehensive, personalized health care. They are registered nurses with advanced education and clinical training both in primary care and in a variety of specialties. NPs are an essential part of the health care delivery system by improving your access to affordable, quality health care. This year's speakers include several local nurse practitioners and physicians providing educational insight on a variety of topics and treatment modalities from their areas of expertise. 30th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, December 13, 2008, 11:57 AM EST [General]

The Mohawk Valley NP's celebrated the Chapter's 30th Anniversary last evening.  November 1978 the first recorded minutes for the Mohawk Valley Nurse Practitioner Association were hand written by Lucille Roser.  Most of the founding members and members that closely followed, as well as new members of the Chapter, attended the party.

Founding members that were there last night are: Bev Baer, Barb Elmer, Marilyn Campola, Maria Allen, Lucille Roser and Karen Warner.  Thank you one and all for you forged the way for me and all NP's.

We also invited supporting and collaborating physicians for without them we would not have succeeded.  They are proud of us.  They truly are partners in this health care system.  The Chapter's members acknowledge their support and help though all these years.

And spouses, children, partners and friends were there also.  They are true heroes.  They listen to our stories, good and bad; understand the long hours and have been and will continue to be there every inch of the way.  With hearts full of appreciation and love; we thank them.

New York State legislators were there too: maybe each was not there in person, but they were there spirit.  Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito was in attendance.  She stayed for several hours.  RoAnn has always supported NP's.  NYS Assemblyman David Townsend, RoAnn, and Senator Joseph Griffo sent citations praising NP's contributions to health care and the Chapter's work in the community.  The citations were each unique and wonderful.  We are a recognized and honored profession; and this Mohawk Valley Chapter has always been a leader in achieving that goal.

It was a wonderful evening.  Pictures will soon follow; I'm fixing the red eye.
