President's Greeting
Welcome to another exciting year of providing health care to children. With a presidential election and upcoming scope of nurse practitioner practice, there is much to anticipate. Orange County NAPNAP also has some new changes, first of which is our new website. A big thank you to Vivian Derr for masterminding and setting this up.
Speaking of giving thanks, a big thank you to all our board members and especially to Patty Dupont-Tyler for serving as our president last year. However,we are missing one board member. We need to select a president-elect by September 20. Does that sounds like a scaryand busy job? It is not. Our educational plans are already set, so this person would just join in the fun and work with the board in planning next year. If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested, please let me know by September 20. And if going to the NAPNAP national conference is something you'd like to do, the president does get some funding toward expenses to represent our chapter at the meeting.
Did you know that 95% of car seats are used INCORRECTLY? I hope you will come to our educational meeting Thursday, October 2, 6:30pm at CHOC to find out how you can counsel parents on best practices and watch for common mistakes that you can address right in your office. Jill Olmstead, President of California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP) will give us an update on CANP and the quest to obtain a NP scope of practice in California. Please RSVP to Judi Leonard if you are planning on attending. Bring a friend!
January 13 will bring us an update and screening tools for autism by Teri Book, PNP, from 4 OC Kids.
I hope you will enjoy the new website and let us know if you have any suggestions or encounter any challenges. Get involved and let any of the board members know how OC NAPNAP can assist you. Looking forward to moving more ahead into the digital age.
Best for a healthy fall,
Judi Leonard
