New Job opportunity at Washington State Department of Health

There will be an opening in late spring 2016 for a Perinatal and Women's Health Nurse Consultant at the Washington State Department of Health in Olympia. We are looking for an experienced, masters prepared, nurse with a CNM/ARNP preferred, to join our team working to ensure that every woman has access to adequate and high quality health care across the lifespan with particular emphasis on women of childbearing age. This position is responsible for consultation and technical assistance to providers and other professionals providing prenatal and primary (preconception) health care to women. This consultant develops and leads efforts to promote and improve preconception health through life span approach.

Work includes: developing and maintaining clinical best practice materials related to pregnancy; creating technical reports; providing technical assistance and consultation to Local Health Jurisdictions, local and state health agencies and professional organizations; preparing legislative bill analyses and assignments; facilitating workgroups; participating in strategic planning and policy development; and quality improvement projects.

We are looking for a person with clinical expertise in preconception, pregnancy, birth and women's health, excellent communication skills (oral and written), and be able to maintain extensive network of professional contacts for clinical issues and input for programs, QI and policy work. The position works closely with the Prenatal Infant Health and the Family Planning Reproductive Health nurse consultants.

Job station is in Tumwater but flexible schedules, vanpools and occasional tele-commute options are available.
