Helping Nurse Practitioners get waivered to prescribe buprenorphine

The Olympia Area Advanced Practice Association

Dear Olympia Area Advanced Practice Association,

On behalf of the Washington State Department of Health, I am asking for your help to let nurse practitioners and physician assistants know that they can now start to get waivered to prescribe buprenorphine. Links to courses and more information are in the attachment.

Practices that wish to start treating opioid misuse disorder in their office can also get technical assistance from DOH to help implement care.

This effort is part of the national  plan to expand treatment for substance misuse, including into primary care. The goal is to prevent opioid related deaths.

Sincerely,

Mary Catlin RN, MPH, CIC
