Dear members, 

As of 2015, you paid an additional $5 when renewing your professional licenses to support HAVEN (Health Assistance InterVention Education Network), which offers a confidential alternative to "public disciplinary action for professionals suffering from chemical dependency, emotional or behavioral disorder, or physical or mental illness." 

HAVEN sees around 400 health care professionals annually to provide counseling and treatment but your $5 fee is not made available to them and the amount of about $800,000 annually is allocated to the General Fund instead. 

The current budget proposal by Gov. Malloy will permanently divert this money to the General Fund, limiting funding for HAVEN and the valuable services it can provide to our colleagues in need.
