The NPA Syracuse Chapter

Hello everyone,

March is here, winter is almost over, and most of the Board members are looking forward to daylight savings time and warmer weather! Reminder: NYS Legislative Day is 4/9/13, in Albany, registration closes on 3/14/13. Carolyn Buppert will be the keynote speaker. If you have checked out the state website, please do so to update yourself on DEA Drug Schedule changes which went into effect on 2/23/13.

The Board of Directors will be meeting in Albany on 4/8/13, focusing on the state budget, and Gov. Cuomo had incorporated NPs in the budget language which may impact the Modernization Act. STAY TUNED!! The Chapter recently made a donation of $500 to the NPA State Legacy Fund.

We continue to honor Maureen O’Hara’s memory with your generous contributions to “Teal there’s a cure”. We have been collecting donations for this organization which Maureen and her family established when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She unfortunately lost her battle last year, but her family and friends will continue holding the Walk/Run event in Marcellus on July 4th, so come along and join us in supporting this wonderful fund raiser. Several members of our organization have supported many local cancer and other fund raising /awareness events. We would like to hear from any members who would like to share their experiences with us; let us know if you wish to make any announcements at our dinner meetings. In the past we sponsored several other fund raising events, such as LUNGevity, and Komen Race for the Cure. Several members will once again begin organizing a Golf Fund Raiser to be held this spring or summer, so look for that announcement soon!

Help us say good – bye to winter by joining us at the next dinner meeting at FRANCESCA’S CUCINA on 3/12/13! Please RSVP by 3/12/13 10 am. Please try to attend, and for those planning to attend, RSVP is important in planning for our sponsors, so if you RSVP, and cannot make it, let us know. In general we are able to accommodate walk ins.

Sincerely,

Lisa Cico & Amy Scullion (Co-Presidents)
