Since January 2007 and extending to the 2017 tax year, New Mexico offers a tax credit for eligible health practitioners, including nurse practitioners, working in approved locations in New Mexico of up to $5,000. 

There are two ways to apply for the credit:

1. To expedite processing of applications, you can now complete the 2017 New Mexico Rural Health Practitioner Tax Credit Application on-line at: https://rhcptc.nmhealth.org with a three day turn around.
2. Complete the 2017 New Mexico Rural Health Practitioner Tax Credit Application and mail it with a copy of your license directly to the New Mexico Department of Health.
