Legislative Update 2/25/19

Webster, NH
The New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association

Last week, we reported on our work on SB 296, regarding live medical testimony in courts.  As filed, the bill would have allowed the records of some health care providers (MDs and dentists, in particular) to be introduced in certain civil court proceedings without the need for the provider to be present in person. We worked with the stakeholders on this bill to ask that the bill be amended so as to include APRNs, and on Wednesday the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to pass the bill with our proposed amendment that makes the bill applicable to all “licensed health care providers.”  This will be on the floor for a Senate vote on March 7.  Thank you to Kerry Nolte, PhD, FNP-C, for your work to amend this bill in favor of APRNs.
