The New England Chapter of GAPNA

For everyone that was unable to attend our Education Day Conference last Saturday I would like to take a moment to officially introduce the New England Chapter’s 2019 – 2020 Board of Directors:

Seated President: Anne Marie Caron

President Elect: Monica Dube

Past-President: Michelle DeBest

Treasurer: Katherine Howard

Secretary: Mary Ellen Januario

Director-at-Large: Elizabeth Weinshel

Director-at-Large: Amy Yentsch

I would like to thank the 2018 - 2019 Past President, Karen Tepper, for all of her hard work and contributions to our New England Chapter over the past 3 years. Karen was the 2018 recipient of the National GAPNA's Excellence in Community Service Award. Under her leadership our chapter by-laws were reviewed and updated, and she has been the chair of our Election Committee for the past couple of years.  She is a strong advocate for our country’s veterans and is currently working toward her DNP.  Please join me in wishing Karen well in her future endeavors and offering a big thank you for all she has done for our chapter!

I would also like to thank Amy Bruno, our 2018 – 2019 Secretary. Amy has recently moved to Oxford Great Britain, but I am certain that she will continue to be a champion and educator of Advanced Practice geriatric-focused NPs from “across the pond”.

As I transition into the “Past-President” position I want to say that it has been an honor to have served as our chapter’s President over the past year. I am so proud of the great work the Board and committees have done over this past year,  including our recent conference, which was our most successful full day education event to date; receiving a record high number of applicants for our annual student scholarship;  and incorporating, for the second year in a row, a student board position. As we shift gears and move into this coming year, I have every confidence that under the guidance and direction of our new Chapter President, Anne Marie Caron, 2019 – 2020 will be even more successful!

With gratitude,

Michelle DeBest – Past President
