The NPA Syracuse Chapter

May 2013! I am thinking, and hoping, the sunshine should be coming our way soon! And, along with the sunshine we have many exciting opportunities to network and meet our colleagues over the next month. We would also like to congratulate the students who will be graduating soon! Best wishes and congratulations on your upcoming graduation! I remember my graduation day, many, many, years ago! And, I have truly enjoyed my career as an NP, and hope you all will too!

June 7th is our Annual Teaching Day at the University Sheraton (see website for details). This is the 20th annual event! I would like to thank all of you who have been involved in the annual planning of this event, and those who have attended it as well, over these past 20 years. This is quite an accomplishment for our Chapter.

Coming up on May 14th our Special Addition Dinner Meeting at Twin Trees Too on Milton Ave for a ‘speed networking event’ to meet and exchange ideas, business cards, and enjoy an evening with our colleagues in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Many thanks to Deb Plugh and Alicia Castrello for resurrecting the Golf Tournament; stay tuned to the website for details. If anyone is interested in putting together a sub -committee for fund raising, please let one of us know, as we are always looking for ways to increase our funds, which help sponsor events such as our annual teaching day, our legislative dinners and speed networking dinner.

Please monitor the NPA state site for news on the Modernization Act, and if you would like to get a pass to the NYS FAIR, sign up to volunteer at our table this summer; contact the NPA via the website or call. Capitol Day was a success with 150 NPs convening on the Hill in lobbying efforts on behalf of our practice.

Happy May, Congratulations to our new graduates, and we hope to see you at our annual teaching day and May’s speed networking event!
