The original HB 607 was amended multiple times and became adopted in a modified way into both Senate Bill 1676 and its companion bill HB 7053 which both failed to gain traction and pass as legislation.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, after decades of persistent effort, House Bill 607 (HB 607: Direct Care Workers) was passed by both the House and Senate and signed by Governor DeSantis into law. This has created an optional pathway for full practice authority (FPA) / independent practice (IP) for both nurse practitioners (NP) and certified nurse-midwives (CNM).
