ABOUT:

This CE/CME program opens with a review of legal and regulatory aspects associated with schedule II medications. Instructors cover principles of pharmacology and pathophysiology relating to pain and the evaluation, treatment, management and standardized procedures/protocols for patients who require schedule II-V controlled substances. Opioid misuse and diversion are addressed, along with types of schedule II medications and an overview of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

This course is designed to meet the needs of prescribing medical providers, particularly physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and physicians (MDs/DOs).

Successful completion of this course:

  • allows PAs to write for controlled substances without patient-specific approval
  • meets California Board of Registered Nursing continuing education requirement for controlled substances Schedule II approval for NPs
  • awards six (6) CE/CME credits

*course satisfies requirements of Business and Professional Code section 3502.1(c)(2), under California Department of Consumer Affairs, PA Board
