Permanently removing these regulatory barriers to facilitate treatment is needed for all states. Currently, there are 290,000 APRNs licensed in the U.S. There is a shortage of primary care physicians which will only worsen over the next 10 years. We must modernize our state licensure laws to authorize full practice for APRNs.
