SB230 was VETOED today by the Governor. See the Governors letter to Secretary of State. This bill would have banned anyone but medical doctors and osteopathic physicians from using the word "physician" or "doctor" in any advertisement. Governor DeSantis received and extraordinary amount of push back and phone calls from the Optometrists since the bill would have prevented them from calling themselves "physicians". This bill was to help patients understand the roles of their healthcare providers and provided transparency. This bill also affected APRN's using the "doctor" title in practice and would have been considered a felony.
