Davenport University, Warren Campus, is looking to hire adjunct instructors for the fall semester, including pediatric clinical and lab instructors.
This is a great opportunity for a prior educator or for an individual to start out teaching in academia.
Clinical rotations are for 7 weeks, two sessions per semester. Clinicals meet for one day a week, 12.5 hour shifts, days only (6:45 am to 7:30 pm). Placement may be at, but not limited to, DMC Children's Hospital, Corewell Royal Oak or Dearborn Campus, and St. John Main. The clinical day options are typically Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Classes start the first week of September. First session is from the beginning of September to the end of October, and the second session starts at the end of October and goes to mid-December. A Masters Degree is required.
Note - also hiring OB clinical and lab instructors.
Lab classes are 3 hours in length and are usually on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - though this year we may overlap into the end of week to meet student needs. Utilize simulation in lab classes and instruction provided. Utilize Laerdal manikins, for OB/peds.
Pediatric theory course is a four-hour course and the number of sections, this fall, will be determined by student numbers.
One may teach more than one clinical and/or lab, though there is a max cap on total hours.
Updating clinical and lab paperwork to align with Lasater's Clinical Judgement model, and as such will have an orientation session for all adjuncts in August to assist with onboarding and acclimating to the positions and paperwork.
