What’s New at NPAGR

August 2013

ISTOP Legislation prescription monitoring program takes effect August 27, 2013

Effective August 27, 2013, most prescribers including NPs will be required to consult the PMP registry when writing prescriptions for Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances. Practitioners will be able to designate designees to check the registry on their behalf.

To participate in the PMP you must have a currently active Health Commerce System Account. Establishing an account could take over TWO (2) WEEKS so if you do not already have one, establish a HCS account now!

Establish a HCS Account: go to https://hcsteamwork1.health.state.ny.us/pub/top.html and follow the instructions.

Research Study

Two NP students attending Gannon University are conducting a study of NP knowledge base and comfort in the care management of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning (LGBTQ) populations. It should take no longer than 15 to 20 minutes to complete this survey. Check out the website and if you are interested, participate in the study.
