CSU DNP Program

San Jose, CA
The Silicon Valley Chapter for Nurse Practitioners

Dear Silicon Valley Chapter CANP Member:

Beginning fall 2012, there will be three post-masters Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs available in the CSU system that will begin offering this highly anticipated and needed course work.   Each of the three programs is designed to prepare working nurses for advanced nursing practice at the doctoral level and will also provide additional course work in nursing education.  The three CSU DNP programs include a joint CSU Fresno-San José State University DNP program, a joint CSU Fullerton-Long Beach-Los Angeles program, and the San Diego State University program.   Their DNP curriculum focuses on applied nursing research and provides essential core courses to prepare students to develop a doctoral project that contributes to an improvement in professional practices or policy.  Information about these programs and links to the School of Nursing DNP websites can be found at the Chancellor’s Office website: http://www.calstate.edu/dnp/.

The Chancellor’s Office is conducting a DNP program needs assessment that can be found on our website under “Is the CSU DNP right for you?”  - located in the far left column on each webpage.  We are asking that nurse practitioners who are interested in pursuing a DNP at one of these three programs to take this electronic survey.  Completing this survey will assist the Chancellor’s office in our strategic planning for DNP programs.  It is a quick 5 to 10 minute survey and will provide data needed to assist the programs in planning for DNP admissions and scheduling of courses.

The CSU Chancellor’s office is committed to providing opportunities for nurse educators to obtain quality doctoral education in nursing through our DNP programs.   Please assist us in our efforts to reach out to nurse practitioners who are interested in completing a DNP.  For questions about this survey, please contact Dr. Margaret Brady at MBrady@calstate.edu

Thank you for your efforts in forwarding this letter to your local chapter members.

Sincerely,
Margaret Brady, PhD, RN, CPNP
