Resources for Treating IBS
Attachments included
Hi Loretta,
Thank you for letting me be a part of your meeting last week. You have a great group and I hope the information regarding IBS was well received. Below are a few follow up items that I wanted to offer to your group. Will you please pass along?
A. The following are attached;
- The most commonly used medications for IBS – D. This is a spreadsheet I had created regarding other medications used in IBS-D other than Lotronex. Lotronex information can be found at www.lotronex.com
- Probiotics Commonly used by GI’s – This is a chart I made for members of my team. The worksheet therefore includes the marketing messages of the listed probiotcs.
- Probiotics ACG Position – Probiotics overview
- FODMAP Diet – Dr. Polito mentioned this briefly in response to someone’s question. This is a relative new concept regarding managing diet to alleviate IBD symptoms. I have attached a patient handout that is from the University of Virginia Medical College
B. For copies of the Bristol Stool Scale, please Click Here
You can print the graphics for patient education.
*If anyone would like this in poster version, please let me know and I will send them one.
C. Click Here for the American Family Physicians website which summarizes the 2009 American College of Gastroenterology’s position on all IBS therapies.
*If any group members would like the PDF of the file, let me know and I will send it to them individually.
D. Important (Patient) Resources:
Lotronex website
International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
About Irritable Bowel Syndrome
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please let them know they can contact me directly at the information listed below.
