If you are currently a PNP (or will be by July 1, 2014) (or student for one position) in the state of Colorado and feel that you would like to be in a position that will allow you to network with multiple PNPs across the local Denver area and throughout the state, you should join our board. If you have always wondered how certain PNPs gets jobs that you never even saw posted on the job boards you follow, you should join our board. If you have always wanted your resume to look a little different from other PNPs with similar experiance so that employers pick yours over theirs, you should join our board!
Our Chapter strives to provide our members with the opportunity to network with each other, at meetings, social gatherings, and educational events. Our Chapter keeps current members up to date on immunization news, legislative news, local and national educational events and pediatric clinical pactice information. Our goal is to collaborate with other medical, community, and governmental agenices to make this happen. We also hope to continue educating the local community about our role in pediatric healthcare.
For us to reach these goals, members of our organization must work together and volunteer a little of their time as leaders on our board as officers and committee members. Please read the description of each open board position listed below to see which fits your personality best! The positions will start 7/1/14.
Secretary (two year position)
If you are an organized person that takes great notes while in school or other educational meetings you will be great as secretary. This position allows you to be active on the board by simply being present at all meetings, documenting what is discussed, and presenting that information to the board by posting it on our website and sending it to National NAPNAP. Below is the description from our bylaws.
"The secretary shall keep and maintain the minutes of the meetings and give all notices that are required to be given by these bylaws, be custodian of the bylaws, membership roster and records of the organization, attest all documents, the execution of which has been duly authorized by the members according to these bylaws, send copies of Chapter meeting minutes and newsletters to the Membership/Chapters' Coordinator of NAPNAP, perform all duties incident to the office of secretary and such other duties as the Executive Board may prescribe."
Treasurer (two year position)
If you love money, managing money, numbers, and are an organized person, the Treasurer may be the position for you. Our accounts need to be managed by someone who is committed to the organization for two years. You will be responsible for communicating with National NAPNAP about our accounts when requested and submitting the annual report of our expenditures. Below is the description from our bylaws.
"The treasurer shall have charge and custody of and be responsible for all funds and securities of the chapter, shall receive and give receipts for all monies due and payable to the chapter from any sources whatsoever and deposit all monies in the name of the chapter in banks or other depositories as shall be decided by the executive board. The treasurer shall account for and record all financial transactions by the chapter and prepare and render an annual report to the chapter and to the National_Association at the last regular meeting of each fiscal year and whenever requested by the National Association or chapter membership. (S)he shall authorize an annual audit/review of financial records of the chapter in such a manner as directed by the Executive Board and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the members of the executive board"
Committee Member Positions (1yr at least- up to max 6 year positions)
Membership Committee (Chair)
If you are a social bug and people person, the committee chair may be the position for you. This position is for someone that is willing to seek out and recruit new members to our group. In the recent past we have had only one person on this committee, however if more than one person is interested, that would be great! If one is more of a leader than another, they could be designated as the Chair and help lead the "team!" Below is the description from our bylaws.
"This committee shall encourage desirable applicants to apply for membership, and shall formulate and recommend plans for increasing and maintaining membership. The chair shall develop up to date listings of all current chapter members, maintain records of
Rocky Mountain NAPNAP current membership and distribute contact information for all Executive Board members at the beginning of the fiscal year."
Public Relations Committee
(1 additional members needed)
If you always want to help others understand what a PNP actually is and what we mean to the community, you will be great for the PR committee! You also get to take part in organizing one of biggest annual networking events, NP Night Out! You will be on a team of hard working members that have been involved for many years and will be of great guidance to you in your new position on the committee!! Below is the description from our bylaws.
"This committee shall be in charge of all publications by or in the name of the chapter to all media and membership, aside from the chapter newsletter that has a chair. This committee shall promote the ideals of the local and National Association to prospective members and to the general public. They shall educate the public regarding the PNP role in health care and reach out to the medical and nursing community to inform them about our organization. The chair shall increase visibility in the community through service projects, speaker's bureau, press releases and through the chapter website."
Education Committee
(2 additional members needed)
If you always like to be up to date on current clinical guidelines and information and want to help keep all CO PNPs up to date, you should join our Ed committee. You will be involved with other PNPs, MDs, PAs, and other local educators while organizing our educational events. You will be able to help make decisions on what clinical information is most needed among our members and who will speak at our events! Below is the description from our bylaws.
"This committee shall be responsible for the development of educational programs for the chapter during the fiscal year. They shall develop objectives for each program offered and identify and obtain appropriate speakers to meet these objectives. They shall assess the educational needs of the membership periodically through surveys and work with the PR committee to increase visibility and outreach through educational programs. They shall identify pharmaceutical and product sponsorship for programs in conjunction with the fundraising committee."
A NEW exciting position: Rural PNP Outreach Coordinator!!!
If you do not live in the Denver area, always wanted to be more active in our Chapter, but felt is was just so inconvenient that most of our events take place in the Denver (and outlying areas near Denver), you would be perfect for our Rural PNP Outreach Coordinator position. This is a new position that we would like to start this coming July. We are looking for someone who is willing to organize small social events such as happy hour get togethers or educational events outside of denver. This person will be given access to our member list in order to identify and contact the members that live in more rural areas. They will work on finding members from each region that would beable to create small social get togethers for each specific region. They will also sumbitt (email) a report to the president before each chapter meeting (without having to go to the meetings in Denver) to update us on how the rural members are networking together. Some of us are also meeting for some drinks and good on May 8th at Breckinridge Brewery downtown Denver if you want to join us and learn more about a certain role or about our organization in general.
