Dear Colleagues,
The SB1750 that authorizes ARNPs to sign certificate of involuntary examination under the Baker Act with the amendment to authorize PA to do the same was passed out of the Senate Regulation Committee this morning. Senator Siplin presented this bill. Stan Whitaker spoke and testified in support for this bill. The following people/organizations waived in support for this bill:
- Alisa Snow represented FNA
- PA association representative
- Timra Cloud represented Florida Panhandle Nurse Practitioner Coalition
- Mike Williams waived in Support on behalf of the FNPN

There was no opposition from the audience. Senator Gaetz and Sobel were absent from this committee meeting. Per another email, Senator Gaetz arrived late and registered a yes vote, thus passing the bill unanimously.
The HB 1195 is expected to be on the agenda in the House Judiciary Committee either next Tues (2/21) or Thurs (2/23). We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
Congratulations to all who wrote and called to get this vital step accomplished!
