Hope for a 2015 Session in favor of Nebraska NP's

Nebraska
The Nebraska Nurse Practitioner Network

In April of this year, Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman vetoed a bill that could have helped extend healthcare in more rural areas of Nebraska; a service that is much needed for Nebraska residents currently distanced from physician care.

Due to the demand for primary care physicians in numerous Nebraska rural areas, the bill would have lessened physician oversight requirements currently in place, allowing nurse practitioners to care for patients in these rural areas. The passing of this bill would have also contributed to more appeal (and retention) for advanced practitioners looking to either start or extend their care practices in the state of Nebraska.

But there is still hope for a 2015 session that all parties can come to terms. Terms that will best benefit both the safety and healthcare of Nebraska residents.
