Act Today June 19, 2012 Immediate Action Requested By NYNPA
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED
We are pleased to announce that the NP Modernization Act (A.5308-A/S.3289-A) passed in the New York State Assembly late this afternoon! Our immediate attention now shifts to the NYS Senate, where we continue our work to secure final passage of the bill. The NPA is requesting all members who are able and willing to assist with this advocacy effort to call their local Senators at their Albany office. We recommend using a message similar to the following:
Hello, my name is __________ and I live in Senator _________’s district. I am a nurse practitioner and provide healthcare services to more than ____ patients in your district and the surrounding area. I am calling to ask the Senator to support S.3289-A (Young), the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act. This bill, which has already passed in the Assembly, removes the statutory requirement for a signed written collaborative agreement for NPs with 3 years’ experience, while maintaining the integrity of the collaborative relationship with the physician. This bill DOES NOT expand the scope of healthcare services or change the functions that a NP may provide. I urge the Senator to express support of this bill to Senator LaValle and Senator Skelos. Thank you for your help.
Time is of the essence as the NYS Senate is scheduled to recess on Thursday. Please click on this link http://www.nysenate.gov/?openform to find your State Senator using the search tool in the upper left hand portion of the page under “Find Your Senator.”
Please act now and call your State Senator’s Albany Office today
