SAMHSA: Depression rates triple among 12- to 15-year-olds
The incidence of depression increased threefold for girls ages 12 to 15 in the past year, according to a report released by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Researchers looked at the 2008-2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health and found an average of 12% of 12- to 17-year-old girls have reported experiencing a major depressive episode.
