We have some important practice issues in front of the 84th Texas Legislative Session in the next few weeks.  The first priority bill, House Bill 2602 by Garnett Coleman, relates to prescribing Schedule II controlled substances by APRNs in palliative care and psychiatric mental health settings and is scheduled for hearing this week.  The House Public Health Committee has also reported HB 1885 (Full Practice Authority) and HB 1473 (Forms) will likely be scheduled to be heard by the committee on Tuesday, April 21.  All available NPs are encouraged to attend and flood the hearing room with support of this important legislation!
