RSVP'ing to Events

Hello All:

I want to first say thank you to those members who came out last night to Del Frisco's to our dinner meeting on pediatric sudden cardiac death. Dr. Reyes did a wonderful talk and we had great questions. I want to just take a moment to discuss RSVPs' for these type of dinner meetings and how the process works. As most of you already know, the dinner meeting is announced and an RSVP list is created. We do this for 2 reasons. One so that we can keep track of attendance for NAPNAP records. Sometimes dinners include CEU offerings and an RSVP list is needed so that we can generate the correct number of CEU certificates. Another reason is that sometimes dinners are sponsored by reps, as in last night's case. Medtronic sponsored our dinner and reps also like an RSVP list so they know how many dinners will most likely need to be taken into consideration for cost reasons.

Last night, despite me sending out an annoucement a few days prior to the dinner asking for final head count,  we had about 12 people who did not show up although they RSVP'd for the event. The turnout was indeed a good one nonetheless, but the concern here is that we all need to be much more attentive to our RSVPs'. If you cannot attend the meeting for whatever reason, please let me know so that I can update our records as needed and subsequently then let the others involved know. The restaurants appreciate a formal and final head count as well as our reps/sponsors. Please keep this in mind. Also, there are always calls, emails coming in to me the day of from other NPs asking if they can still attend and it would be nice to allow them to come if there are open seats.

Our next dinner meeting will most likely be sometime in February. I will post announcement in January. I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season.
