This annual program targets the learning needs of local Advanced Practice Nurses, RN, RN/PA/NP students and is intended to provide information that will be useful in their daily practice.

Dr. Guerrero is the Founder and Medical Director of the TMS Institute of El Paso specializing in TMS, advanced pharmacology, and forensic consultation. He is a member of the Clinical TMS Society and is a member of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, where he serves on the Forensic Psychiatry Exam committee. He has been a Board Examiner for over 20 years. He performs competency evaluations for civil and criminal proceedings and has testified as an expert witness in numerous trials and hearings. He has conducted clinical trials in Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD, has conducted epidemiologic research in dementia, and has published in these areas. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and later graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico. He served on many health law committees with the American Bar Association and has co-authored several chapters in physician-legal issues with the ABA.

His commitment to excellence led him to complete his residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, in 2013, followed by the prestigious Baylor University/WB Carrell Clinic Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship in Dallas, TX, in 2014. Since 2014, Kelly Fitzpatrick has performed over 6,000 inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, establishing himself as one of the highest-volume orthopedic surgeons in the Army. Alejandra B. Valenzuela is a native from El Paso, Texas and her passion is to care for children in our region. After graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1996, she cared for hospitalized children for 23 years. She completed her masters in nursing as a clinical nurse specialist in 2001 and as a nurse practitioner in 2010. Her dedication to provide the best care possible to our community motivated her to continue her studies and graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2015. She is well regarded in the El Paso community for her quality and patient centered care. Currently she serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UTEP School of Nursing. She is the clinical coordinator for the acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program. Dr. Valenzuela is board certified in both acute and primary care. She holds certifications as a pediatric oncology/hematology nurse from APHON and general pediatric nurse from ANCC. She continues to be involved in the community as a volunteer for Texas Special Olympics and as a member of the El Paso Area Advanced Practice Nurses, NAPNAP Southwest Chapter, and APHON.
