Shantell Burns NP

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Burns is an Instructor of Clinical Nursing at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing and serves as the Coordinator of the BSN to DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. She is also the President/CEO of Ally Mental Health, LLC and Ally Recovery, LLC, located in Prairieville, La. She is Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She holds active memberships in multiple professional organizations at the local, state, national, and international levels. Dr. Burns has over 17 years of clinical and non-clinical nursing experience. Her research interests include promoting mental health equity with an emphasis on reducing mental health stigma, reducing treatment disparities in marginalized groups, and enhancing culturally responsive care amongst mental health clinicians. She also provides mental health wellness coaching to employers seeking to create a workplace fostering positive mental health and mental wellness.
