Kosh Agarwal BMedSci (Hons), MD, FRCP

Kosh Agarwal, BMedSci (Hons), MD, FRCP, is a Consultant Hepatologist and Transplant Physician at the Institute of Liver Studies, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He is also Lead for the Regional Hepatitis Program which is the largest treatment centre for the disease in the UK. He has accreditation in general internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology. His specialist areas of interest and expertise are in the assessment and management of liver disease, specifically viral hepatitis (both hepatitis B and C), hepatocellular cancer (HCC); the optimization of end-stage liver disease symptoms in the context of assessment for liver transplantation and in pre-and post-transplant management of patients with liver disease.Dr Agarwal graduated from Newcastle University. His postgraduate training was undertaken in Newcastle with the majority of his clinical and research training at the Regional Liver and Transplant Unit. Prior to his appointment at King's, he was a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Regional Liver and Transplant Unit in Newcastle. Dr Agarwal also spent a year at the Division of Liver Diseases, Mount Sinai, New York furthering his viral hepatitis expertise and developing an interest in adult-adult living related and multi-visceral transplantation. His research interests encompass adult liver transplantation, viral hepatitis, HIV-associated liver disease and hepatocellular cancer. He has published extensively. He has contributed to several Department of Health initiatives regarding Hepatitis and acts as an advisor to the Hepatitis C Trust. He is an investigator for several ongoing studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of various antiviral treatment regimens for chronic hepatitis B and C.
