Acute pain remains one of the most common and challenging clinical concerns, often requiring prompt and effective intervention to improve patient comfort, recovery, and overall outcomes. Traditional therapies, including opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), while effective, are limited by side effects, variable efficacy, and the risk of dependency or organ toxicity.
Suzetrigine, a first-in-class small-molecule therapy, has recently emerged as a promising candidate in the landscape of acute pain management. By targeting a novel pain pathway distinct from those affected by opioids or NSAIDS.

Dr. Alethea Hill received her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition, she received both her Bachelor's and Master's of Science degrees from the University of South Alabama, College of Nursing in Mobile, Alabama. Her career experiences span direct patient care as a primary care provider, educating undergraduate and graduate nursing students, serving on many professional and advisory boards; as well as participating in several community projects aiming to reduce health disparities and addressing social determinants of health, with a research focus on self-management of diabetes and promoting heart health.
