• Facility Setting: Hospital Outpatient Department – Preoperative Clinic
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nurse Practitioner Contract)
• Start Date: November 1, 2025
• End Date: April 30, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks (approx. 14 weeks full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm)
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $3440 - $3690
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts (any shift as scheduled)
• Estimated Patient Encounters: 9 per shift
• Trauma Level: Level 3 Facility

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in California (CA NP license)
• Active California DEA registration
• Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital clinical experience in acute care or surgical specialty
• At least 50 clinical services/cases or assessments in an acute care hospital within the last 24 months
• Demonstrated surgical experience required
• Ability to provide current case logs for surgical specialties
• Explanation required for clinical gaps over 3 months
• Eligible for hospital privileges (privileging process required)

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities

• Conduct preoperative consults for surgical patients, including comprehensive risk assessments and patient information gathering
• Prepare and write detailed consult notes for day-of-surgery patients
• Report abnormal laboratory and test results to the medical director
• Respond to RN inquiries in the pre-op clinic and address patient concerns with the medical director
• Communicate logistical issues impacting patient care to the medical director
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
