The Perioperative APRN team is expanding and adding additional Nurse Practitioners to our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating with the perioperative and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive care to patients preop/intraop/postoperatively in the main OR and other anesthetizing locations.
• Conducting patient/family interviews and documenting patient medical history, review of systems, physical exam in the preanesthetic evaluation.
• Communicating the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia to patients and families and obtaining anesthesia informed consent
• Offering expertise as consultant and educator to peri-operative nursing staff
• Participating in or leading the collection of data for anesthesia cancelations, criteria changes, and improvement processes
• Functions as a liaison between the anesthesia attending in charge, primary anesthesia, nursing team, and family to optimize patient care
• Prescribing and administering premedication prior to anesthesia
• Assisting the anesthesia team in procedural areas
• Future opportunities exist to become competent in Vascular Access and PICC line placement
• The role will be on site in Boston and may include possibilities to work in a hybrid fashion.
• Working 30-40 hours per week: three to four 10 hour days per week (No nights, weekends or holidays)
  
  

Education

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
  
  

Experience

• 5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics (inpatient or outpatient) is preferred
• Would consider new graduate NPs with relevant Boston Children's nursing experience
  
  

Licensure/ Certifications

• MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP
  
  

**Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for full-time (40 hours) $4,375.00 for part-time (35 hours) $3,750.00 for part-time (30 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
