Cardiac NP/PA – Pediatric Cardiac ICU

The Heart Center and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Manning Family Children’s Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) with expertise in cardiac critical care to join our growing CICU program.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a nationally recognized program dedicated to caring for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. The APP will play an integral role in providing high-acuity care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and helping to shape the continued growth of the CICU.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease, including physical exams, history reviews, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans in collaboration with pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and intensivists.
• Manage patients requiring advanced therapies including vasoactive support, mechanical ventilation, CRRT, ECMO, and Ventricular Assist Devices.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients, as well as management of complex medical cardiac patients.
• Perform and assist with procedures within scope of practice (line placement, intubation, chest tube management, etc.).
• Educate, counsel, and support families throughout hospitalization and recovery.
• Partner with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and other specialists to deliver evidence-based, family-centered care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and educational programs.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts with rotation of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with current licensure (or eligibility) in Louisiana.
• Experience in pediatric cardiac ICU or high-acuity pediatric critical care preferred.
• New graduates with strong ICU backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
