Position Description

Openings: 2- one opening for each location

Locations:

  • Washington Heights: New York, NY 10032
  • Long Island City: Long Island City, NY

Schedule: Most positions are Mon- Fri (will find out more about the hours during interview- late hours are usually Tues-Thurs)

Works with: Vice President, Medical Affairs, Medical Director, Collaborating Physician

Salary: Position is unionized and salary cannot be negotiated.

  • 2-3 years of Experience: $147,006.29
  • 3-5 years of Experience: $149,379.02
  • 6-10 years of Experience: $151,751.76
  • 10+ years of Experience: $154,124.49

Notes

  • Need to have 3-4 years of experience as an NP working with all ages
  • Interview process: 1-2 virtual calls (with directors), then site visit, team is flexible to interview
  • EMR System: eClinicalWorks
  • see about 20 patients a day
  • 4 days dedicated to patient care, 1 day dedicated to administrative work
  • Must have exp seeing all ages.

Summary

Provides coordinated, comprehensive and continuous primary medical services to patients in conformance with the standing orders of the Vice President, Medical Affairs/Medical Director.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and/or reviews/evaluates a patient’s medical and psychosocial history.
  • Performs complete comprehensive physical examination.
  • Performs screening procedures including Pap Smears, GC cultures, Chlamydia tests and Wet preps.
  • Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Performs routine interim physical examinations on patients that are risk specific, and as outlined in the agency’s Medical Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Evaluates individual patients and prescribes appropriate medications, treatments, referrals as indicated in the Policies & Procedures Manual and/or is consistent with current standards of care.
  • Provides continuous care to patients and management of common and important clinical problems encountered in a primary care setting.
  • Consults with physician(s) regarding problems not encountered in the standing orders (Policies & Procedures Manual) or as necessary.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate sources/consultants for medical and/or social problems.
  • Participates in patient education and counseling services, especially about family planning, STD’S/HIV, preventive health and nutrition.
  • Interprets laboratory data. Reviews and initials all lab reports; orders appropriate/additional lab tests and referrals or follows up as indicated.
  • Reports accidents or anticipated problems.
  • Participates in in-service education and other training programs.
  • Adheres to each and all policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Three plus years experience as Nurse Practitioner, preferably in a family practice clinic setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest in and conviction of purpose and aims for all programs in the Agency
  • Respect for the rights of individuals to make their own decisions about family planning, etc.
  • Ability to communicate easily and display a cordial manner towards individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
