Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Job Details

  • Location: Richland, WA 99352 (Tri-Cities, Washington healthcare jobs)
  • Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Nurse Practitioner position)
  • Start Date: December 1, 2025
  • End Date: February 28, 2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts (overtime after 12 hours)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $3440 - $3690
  • Patient Encounters per Shift: Approximately 20
  • Trauma Level: Level 2 Trauma Center
  • Pediatric Level: Level 3 Pediatric Care

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license (Washington State preferred) with certification in Acute Care or General Surgery
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in trauma surgery, acute care, or emergency medicine settings
  • Proven ability to independently perform pediatric surgeries (required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Surgical Nurse Practitioner
  • Fellowship in trauma surgery, acute care, or related specialty preferred
  • Ability to complete hospital credentialing (estimated 90 days)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive trauma and acute care surgical services, including pediatric surgical cases
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care
  • Manage approximately 20 patient encounters per shift in a fast-paced trauma center
  • Participate in a 7 on/7 off schedule to ensure continuity of care for trauma and surgical patients
  • Accurately document all patient interactions, procedures, and clinical notes in compliance with facility protocols
  • Maintain adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in trauma and acute care nursing
