NURSE PRACTITIONER
Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner, Critical Care delivers primary care to acute, critical, complex and chronically ill patient population collaboratively with the Division of Cardiology and Cardiac Intensivist teams. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive: physical assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner also provides acute resuscitation, on-going multi-disciplinary medical management, transitional care to sub-acute areas, critical care consultations and evaluations, psychosocial support, and health education to patients and their families in the critical care arena. The Nurse Practitioner also functions as a clinical leader, consultant, and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and all healthcare team members. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department and is evaluated by nursing and medical staff. The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner also performs under standardized procedures within the critical care specialties per Medical Staff privileges. This unit is a 24/7 operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree
BLS for Health Providers (AHA)
California RN License
NP Furnishing, CA

Ped Adv Life Support Prov(AHA)
Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier)
National NP certification obtained within 6 months of employment
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Preferred Qualifications:
2 Years of Experience
Ped Adv Life Supp Instr (AHA)
2 years experience in clinical nursing within in Pediatric Critical Care (PICU, NICU, CTICU)

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Job Summary:
This Critical Care Physician Assistant (PA) position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Critical Care PA is the primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well neonates collaboratively with the Division of Neonatology. Implements the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare services within the scope of licensure and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. This position is a "Critical Care" PA, which is defined as:
Master's Degree
BLS for Health Providers (AHA)
Ped Adv Life Support Prov(AHA)
Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
Current California Physician Assistant License
Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission
Drug Enforcement Agency, DEA: DEA Controlled Substance II, IIn, III, IIIn, IV, V as required by department, dependent on scope of practice; If employee required to have DEA, Employee will request Medical Staff Privileges via the Med Staff Privilege form and will go through the AHP Med staff privileging process to prescribe Controlled Substances 2-5 privileges. Current DEA certificate will be tracked and maintained by Medical Staff Office.
Medicare Billing number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) upon hire but no later than by 3 months of employment
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Preferred Qualifications:
NRP Advanced Provider (AAP)
2 years of experience as CTICU Physician Assistant
2 years of experience in a direct clinical care position within specialty area if no CTICU PA experience
The current salary range for the NP and PA position is $74.51 to $102.45

- Credentialed in Med Staff with critical-care-defined competencies/procedures.
- Generally, they are working in a unit that is a 24/7 operation. Schedules are 24/7 and not limited to Monday-Friday w/ limited or no holidays.
