Position Description

Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP), Acute Care delivers primary care to patients, including those in the complex and chronically ill population. Works collaboratively with their department of medicine specialty and any Inpatient unit, with the exception of patients defined as Critical Care (NICU, PICU, CTICU) and under the care of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)-credentialed physician. The Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care may provide consultation within their specialty to patients in the Critical Care Departments, Emergency Department, Outpatient setting, etc. The NP provides comprehensive: physical assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families. The NP also functions as a clinical leader, consultant, and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and all healthcare team members. The NP supports the philosophies of the department and is evaluated by nursing and medical staff. The NP also performs under standardized procedures within the acute care services per Medical Staff privileges. Generally, they are working in a unit that is a 24/7 operation. Schedules are not limited to Monday-Friday with limited or no holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree

BLS for Health Providers (AHA)

California RN License

NP Furnishing, CA

Nurse Practitioner, CA

Ped Adv Life Support Prov(AHA)

NPI - National Provider Identifier

Completion of a mandatory RCHSD critical care NP orientation

National NP certification, obtained within 6 months of employment

Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services

FOR PER DIEMS ONLY: Must adhere to department per diem availability requirements, which may include a minimum of 12 shifts per fiscal year

Preferred Qualifications:

2 Years of Experience

Ped Adv Life Supp Instr (AHA)

National Acute Care NP certification

The current salary range for this position is $67.58 to $92.93

Job Summary:

The Acute Care Physician Assistant position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant is the primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well Acute Care patients collaboratively for the designated care service division. Implements the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare services within the scope of licensure and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

1 Year of Experience

BLS for Health Providers (AHA)

Ped Adv Life Support Prov(AHA)

Completion of a Physician Assistant Program

Current California Physician's Assistant License

Successful completion of Medical Staff Credentialing

Medicare Billing Number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) upon hire but no later than 3 months of employment

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) controlled substance II, Iln, III, Illn, IV, V as required by department, dependent on scope of practice; if employee required to have DEA, employee will request Medical Staff Privileges form and will go thru the AHP Med Staff privileging process to prescribe Controlled Substances 2-5. Current DEA certificate will be tracked and maintained by Medical Staff Office

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

2 years of experience in a Direct Clinical Care Position within Specialty area if no acute care PA experience

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills
