  • Job Title: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care Neurosurgery Spine (Outpatient)
  • Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract)
  • Healthcare Setting: Outpatient neurosurgery spine clinic
  • Location: San Francisco, CA 94131
  • Duration: 6 months (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 6/15/2026)
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (No weekends, no holidays)
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,600 – $6,000
  • Patient Population: Adult neuro-spine surgery patients (20–22 in-person visits/day; up to 26 with telehealth)
  • Support Team: 7 APPs, 5 surgeons, 2 physiatrists, medical assistants, and patient navigators
  • EMR: Epic

Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

  • Active California Nurse Practitioner license (required for California nursing jobs)
  • Board certification: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
  • DEA registration with Schedule 2/2n authority
  • BLS certification (AHA required)
  • 2–3 years of experience in ortho spine surgery, neuro spine surgery, or pain management with spine patients
  • Academic medical center experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to conduct consults independently
  • COVID-19 vaccine and booster required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Healthcare Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient consults, post-op, and follow-up appointments for neuro-spine surgery patients
  • Perform clinical exams, triage calls, order imaging and medications
  • Manage outpatient procedures: staple removal, drain removal, wound care
  • Opportunity to perform trigger point, hip, and knee injections if experienced (not required)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management
  • Strictly outpatient role—no operating room or inpatient responsibilities
