Job Details – Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner
- Location: New Haven, CT (06510) – Premier Connecticut healthcare destination with rich history and coastal amenities
- Setting: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU), large academic hospital (1,541 beds)
- Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nurse Practitioner Contract)
- Contract Length: 6 months (February 9, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts per week (6:00pm – 6:00am), typically Tuesday–Thursday nights, with 1–2 weekends per month (flexible scheduling)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Hourly Pay Rate: $185/hr
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $3,880–$4,160
- Patient Census: 5–6 patients per night, up to 10–12 on surgery days
- Support: Full hospital support, including attending physician and fellow present on night shifts
- EMR: EPIC
- Travel: Roundtrip airfare, rental car, and housing provided for traveling healthcare professionals
Qualifications – Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in a pediatric cardiac ICU or critical care setting
- Board Certification: Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Active state NP or PA license preferred (willing to license qualified candidates)
- DEA and CSR required
- Certifications: PALS and ACLS required
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Advanced procedural skills: central line placement, intubation, arterial line placement; experience with pacer wires a plus
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- References required from physicians at every facility in practice history
- Must not reside in Connecticut during assignment
- No background issues accepted
Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner
- Provide expert clinical care to pediatric cardiac ICU patients, including bedside rounding and management of complex cases
- Perform advanced procedures: central line placement, intubation, arterial line placement, and assist with pacer wires as needed
- Collaborate with surgeons, attending physicians, fellows, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
- Participate in flexible scheduling, including some weekend coverage
- Commit to a full 6-month locum tenens assignment, delivering consistent, high-quality patient care
