Position Description

SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible to the Director of Surgical Services,Manager of PAT, and the Chief of Anesthesiology. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for overseeing the pre-admission testing patients requiring or requesting anesthesia assessment. Acts as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for the patients across the care continuum. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimizehealth status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings. Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation ofstandards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient caredelivery model. Assists the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals byproviding necessary support, education and encouragement. Demonstrates advanced physical and psycho-social assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics, especially as it applies to the surgical patient. Demonstrates general understanding of anesthesia techniques, surgical procedures, and willcorrelate this with assessment findings. Provides and communicates expert consultation for clinical issues to the surgeon oranesthesia provider promoting surgical clearance for the patients evaluated. Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise. Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Graduate from an accredited Nurse practitioner program with MS degree. Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role. License must include prescriptive privileges. Certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required. EXPERIENCE: Clinical experience as a nurse practitioner for 2 years is preferred or a Nursing experience in surgery, ICU, Neuro, or Cardiology. Must have patient care services, procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician.

Pay Range

$125,000.00-$158,593.75
