Job Description
General Purpose of Job:

- Under the direct supervision of the physician, deliver professional services to High-Risk and Cancer Survivor patients within limits of knowledge, experience, and scope of practice under the licensure of the profession.
- Develop and implement high-risk cancer assessment and management protocols, aligned with national standards
- Diagnose and treat patients, which may include obtaining a history and performing a physical examination, conducting a comprehensive risk assessment, ordering appropriate laboratory or radiologic studies, and prescribing treatment as indicated.
- Provide education to patients, families, and colleagues appropriate to role
- Collaborate with the health care team, including the patient and family, by providing high-quality, evidenced-based care appropriate to the clinical setting.
- Oncology outreach: when assigned, provides professional services at outreach locations as needed
- Supports and participates in research activities, quality of care initiatives, and educational programs as assigned; initiates and pursues self-development activities related to the service; promotes understanding of research findings for staff, students, and peers
- Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow’s Behavioral Standards of Performance (ICARE)
- Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality through consistent adherence to HIPPA Security and Privacy procedures and protocols

- Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current BCLS
- Current State of Michigan APP Certification (NP or PA)
- Successful completion of hospital accreditation
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other caregivers
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/ social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.
