Ambulatory Outpatient Setting:

Job Description:
Direct patient care is provided, including diagnosis and management of disease, preventive health-care services, and patient education, advocacy, and referral in accordance with departmental and professional standards.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care, including gynecologic, contraceptive, prenatal, and postpartum services and related education. Maintains a caseload of gynecological patients, following department protocols for standards of care.
- Consults with and/or refers to a physician as appropriate in the management of complicated or high-risk clients.
- Participates in the teaching of medical, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant students.
- Meets, or exceeds, the continuing education requirements for the profession.
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of patient education materials.
- Is accountable clinically to the supervising physician and administratively to the Women's Health Service (WHS) Coordinator.
- Appropriate current registration and/or licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current certification by a professional accrediting body.
- Ability to diagnose and manage medical conditions, consistent with departmental standards of care.
- Experience working with ambulatory obstetric and gynecological patients, or equivalent clinical internship or work experience.
- Interpersonal skills for positive interaction with patients, providers, and staff
- Commitment to patient education, advocacy, and autonomy
- Maturity and ability to work independently while fully respecting the limits of the nonphysician role
- Commitment to personal safety and to that of coworkers and patients as demonstrated by adherence to OSHA standards.
