The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is seeking a part-time Psychotherapy Nurse Practitioner II that will play a key role in clinical trials and potential clinical implementation of novel and emerging psychiatric interventions at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The Psychotherapy Nurse Practitioner II will serve as a study therapist and contribute to ensuring participant safety and regulatory compliance.
This position will be in support of the WRNMMC Directorate of Behavioral Health, Advanced Therapeutics Program. This Psychotherapy Nurse Practitioner II's role will support a clinical trial of MDMA-Assisted Therapy (MDMA-AT) for service members with PTSD and potentially similar clinical trials in the future.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and protection of study participants.
- Serve as a study therapist, providing MDMA-AT and related non-drug therapy sessions (preparation and integration) and evaluations in compliance with protocol guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral health evaluations and psychotherapy for study participants, with a focus on trauma-informed care and treatment-resistant PTSD.
- Monitor and assess participant safety, symptom progression, and therapeutic outcomes throughout the trial.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigator(s), study physicians, study therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and research outcomes.
- Participate in study therapist meetings.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in accordance with study protocols and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- 6-8 years of experience.
- Experienced and proficient in providing psychotherapy in clinical practice.
- Technical skills to review and interpret electronic health records.
- Clinical risk management experience.
- Quality assurance.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.
- Degree in a health profession that allows for the provision of psychotherapy.
- Independently licensed in Maryland to practice psychotherapy.
- Demonstrated expertise in training and implementing ACT.
- At least 3+ years of clinical experience in behavioral health.
- Experience in clinical trials or clinical research involving FDA-regulated interventions.
- Previous training in ACT and experience in its clinical implementation.
- Familiarity with trauma-focused care, PTSD treatment, and/or novel psychopharmacology.
- Prior experience administering psychedelic-assisted therapy and/or IV ketamine therapy in approved settings.
- Knowledge of military culture and experience working with active duty or veteran populations.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Nurse Practitioner License is required.
- Must also be licensed to provide psychotherapy independently according to state or province and local requirements. Acceptable professional credentials include one of the following:
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric NP or PMHNP)
- This position will take place primarily in a hospital or clinic setting.
- The hourly pay range for this position is $48.32-$69.71 Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
