Responsibilities

The Neil B. Rosenshein, M.D., Institute for Gynecologic Care at Mercy is the flagship Center of Excellence in the highly respected and widely acclaimed Weinberg Center for Women’s Health & Medicine at Mercy . The Institute offers physician and surgical expertise in benign or non-cancerous conditions of the female genital tract as well as in malignant or cancerous conditions such as uterine, ovarian and cervical cancer. The Nurse Practitioner in this role would work particularly close with physician Dr. Mark Ellerkmann.

The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant is an independent health care provider who, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary health care team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care for our patients (family focused). The NP / PA educates clients and/or any available family members in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health, and intervene in illnesses.

  • Manages patient flow effectively and efficiently.
  • Triages patient calls and accurately assesses patient needs. Accurately documents all correspondence with patient.
  • Provides treatment and patient care under the supervision of physician.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with patients and their families.
  • Assists physician with in-office procedures/injections.
  • Completes disability paperwork in a manner consistent with office procedures.
  • Dictates concise and compete medical records utilizing the departmental dictation format.
  • Assist in the care and management of inpatients under the supervision of physician.
  • Patient assessment in ER and for hospital admission

Requirements

  • Masters in Nursing: Certified Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum 5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
  • License Requirements
    • The CRNP should be qualified and duly licensed and registered to practice medicine in Maryland and shall have current federal and Maryland narcotics numbers
    • Required CRNP
    • Required Healthcare Provider Level CPR
  • Must be computer literate or learn within 6 months.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Will be required to travel.
