Position Summary:

The Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) delivers advanced, trauma-informed medical care to children and youth in a shelter setting. This role encompasses comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate leader with strong clinical judgment, committed to promoting wellness and safety for vulnerable populations.   • Salary: $162,760.00 (Salaried / Bi-weekly pay)
  • Language Requirements: Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Location: El Paso, TX
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Program: Medical - Residential Shelter Services
  • Travel: Minimal. Must commute to the shelter location.

Qualifications Required:

  • MUST BE FLUENT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH (Speak, Read, and Write).
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Nurse Practitioner experience in a family practice setting is required. Prior RN experience is preferred. Experience with pediatric and adult populations, including completing physical assessments, is required.
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Employees shall meet the requirements of the Texas Board of Medical Examiners and be licensed to practice medicine without restrictions within the state of Texas. Must maintain good standing as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with the state of Texas Medical Board; current BLS certifications (ACLS and PALS preferred); and current DEA certification without restriction.
  • Must pass background checks and health screenings.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and dependable means of travel.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or vulnerable populations preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions within the scope of practice
  • Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness
  • Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and shelter staff to ensure integrated care
  • Provide health education and preventive care guidance to youth and staff
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide advanced clinical interventions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, training, and team collaboration
  • Uphold Compass Connections’ professional and ethical standards of conduct
  • Other duties as assigned
