- Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104
- Work environment: Cardiothoracic Surgery/Cardiology
- Work hours: PRN: On an as needed basis 10-hour Shifts, 6:30AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday, possible weekend coverage in the future, no major holidays. Vacation coverage. On average 2-3 shifts per month.
- An 815-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center that has served the residents of Tarrant County and surroundings communities since 1930.
- Tertiary care center
- Care of complex cardiovascular patients
- Focus on Heart failure and acute care cases – STEMI and non-STEMI’s, surgical patients – variety of patients; Perform Stress- tests.
- Collaborative and team-oriented department with 6 Acute Care Nurse Practitioners.
- Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN) Required And
- Master's Degree Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) program Required
- RN - Registered Nurse upon hire required (licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing)
- APRN - Advanced Practice Nurse Upon Hire Required And
- Other must be credentialed by Medical Staff Services Upon Hire Required And
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
2 Years’ Experience As a Nurse Practitioner Strongly Preferred
- Two (2) years’ experience in cardiothoracic surgical/cardiology background as RN/NP
- RN/NP Experience with cardiac Cath lab patients and cardiothoracic surgery patients
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill Set: A&P’s – assessments, progress, discharges, education of patients; pull chest tubes, perform stress tests
- Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Basic computer skills using medical management application systems – EPIC/Care Connect
- Performs specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
- Utilizes evidenced based practice
- Demonstrates contribution to unit-based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve the quality of patient care
