The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient education. This role will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery and will prescribe medications, perform procedures, and manage chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will also maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient education. This role will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery and will prescribe medications, perform procedures, and manage chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will also maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

- Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients based on established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication and ordering appropriate tests.
- Demonstrate leadership in patient care excellence, promoting positive health outcomes, and improving patient satisfaction.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical information/history, upholding HIPAA regulations and medical ethics.
- Provide on-call services as needed, including after-hours care, as directed by the facility or company requirements.
- Provide leadership to nursing and healthcare staff, promoting teamwork and cooperation among medical and correctional teams.
- Support staff development through guidance, mentorship, and ongoing education to promote a high standard of care.
- Promote good working relationships within the medical team and across other disciplines and departments to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards by consistently performing thorough and accurate clinical tasks.
- Participate in medical activities that foster growth and development for both medical professionals and patient care.
- Maintain professional standards and accountability for own conduct and appearance at all times.
- Respect and adhere to the facility's safety, infection control, and operational policies, to ensure a safe and effective healthcare environment.
- Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to ensure smooth operations, resolve issues, and enhance patient care delivery.
- A current, valid, and unrestricted state license to practice as an APRN or PA in the State of North Carolina.
- Master's and/or Doctorate-level prepared as APRN (FNP, AGNP, ENP) or PA in Primary Care.
- Current DEA Registration or eligible to obtain DEA Registration.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice, with at least 1-2 years in a correctional healthcare or caring for underserved cohorts is very helpful.
- Competence in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in a managed care or correctional facility setting is highly preferred.
- Active CPR/BLS certificate required prior to start date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
