Position Description

POSITION

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner).

ROLE of the POSITION

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) serves as a clinical healthcare provider for a diverse population on UNLV’s campus community. As a provider in the Student Health Center (SHC) and Faculty and Staff Treatment (FAST) Center, the APRN acts as a healthcare team member and provides direct patient care, in person or via telehealth, to students, faculty, staff, and dependents five years and older, including initiation of treatment, evaluation of responses to treatments, referral to appropriate specialists when indicated, and accurate and timely documentation of all findings concerning the patient in the electronic health record (EHR). The APRN acknowledges the unique characteristics of each patient and provides respectful, culturally competent, and professional clinical services. This APRN position supports the health and mental health of UNLV students and employees, thereby allowing them to succeed in their academic pursuits and/or employment.  

The SHC and FAST Center are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and are part of the Student Wellness Unit at UNLV, which includes the Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Care Center, Wellness Promotion, Disability Resource Center, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Military and Veterans Services Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a current Nevada RN/APRN license in good standing, national certification as a family nurse practitioner, and current CPR certification.
  • All candidates must pass a background screening.
  • Employees of the UNLV Student Wellness Center must be in compliance with our Employee Exposure to Communicable Disease (Prevention of) Policy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to three years of experience as an advanced practice registered nurse.
  • One year of clinical experience in ambulatory care, college health, or community health setting.

SALARY

Salary range is $110,000 - $122,000.
