Job Details – Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner

  • Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nurse Practitioner Contract)
  • Location: San Francisco, CA 94158 (California healthcare jobs)
  • Start Date: January 12, 2026
  • End Date: July 13, 2026 (6-month contract, option to extend)
  • Shifts: Variable 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00), including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Minimum Shifts per Month: 4 (12-hour shifts)
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $5,040 - $5,400
  • Patient Population: Pediatric, neonatal, and adult congenital cardiac patients
  • Unit Size: 18-bed Pediatric Cardiac ICU
  • EMR: Epic

Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner (PCICU)

  • Active California Nurse Practitioner license (required for all California NP jobs)
  • Board Certification: CPNP-AC (Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care)
  • DEA license with Schedule 2 authority (CA)
  • BLS and PALS certifications (AHA required)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Pediatric Cardiac ICU or pediatric cardiovascular critical care setting
  • Experience with ECMO, CRRT, and heart failure management preferred
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner

  • Deliver advanced clinical care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal cardiac patients, including pre- and post-operative management
  • Manage complex cardiac cases, including patients on ECMO and CRRT
  • Perform procedures such as IVs, arterial lines, and assist with intubation or central line placement
  • Collaborate with physicians, fellows, and other nurse practitioners to provide high-quality, evidence-based care
  • Document all patient care in the Epic EMR system
  • Provide flexible shift coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Support a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment focused on patient-centered care and teamwork
